Italy multi-centre holidays are on the rise

“Tourism in Italy is growing strongly, with [...] a significant increase in arrivals from abroad. 2017 is thus preparing to turn out to be a record year for one of the strategic sectors of the national economy, which must accompany and support its growth".

The ENIT provides information about tourism and Italian markets, and reports onsales trends each year. By gathering information on a number of products, regions and areas, the ENIT can identify trends that happen throughout the country.

Using data from 2017, the ENIT are able to make tourism predictions and forecasts trends for 2018. The first forecasts for 2018 have been done with the help of 118 tour operators – 64 European and 54 overseas – across 20 foreign markets. Compared to the previous year the following sales trends have been identified by the ENIT:

  • 51% of the tour operators reported increased sales
  • 39.3% say they are stable
  • 9.7% indicated a decline in sales

Recently, over the Christmas period, there was an 11% increase in tourist travelling to Italy compared to 2016. October and November also saw increases in tourism compared to 2016 (by 12.42%), leading experts to predict 2018 will see continued growth.
