Happy driving in Italy

According to data gathered by the mobile app Waze, when driving in Italy, Naples drivers are said to be the happiest in the country. According to their website, Waze is a “free community-based GPS, Maps & Traffic Navigation App”. They help drivers optimise their road experience by suggesting the best routes and offering real-time information from other community drivers.

car-interior2.jpgThe results from Waze ranked their millions of community drivers using six key factors. The six evaluation areas were traffic, road quality and safety, car service, socio-economic factors, happiness, and community utility for all Waze members. These results were then accumulated from 217 cities and 42 countries from around the world to be analysed.

As for the results for driving in Italy, Milan ranked high for driving quality, followed by Naples, Rome and Bologna. Milan also ranked highly in terms of traffic, safety and car services; however, Milan fell short on the quality of its streets, which Bologna managed to take the top spot for.

On the other hand, the happiest city for driving in Italy was Naples, with Neapolitans scoring the highest on driving mood within Italy. Despite some of the challenges known to driving in Naples, this city managed to top the national average in the happiness category.

Looking to Europe, it was the Netherlands that managed to get the highest world ranking, followed by France, Czech Republic, Belgium and Spain. On the opposite end of the European scale, Ukraine, Romania and Great Britain ranked in the bottom three positions. Unfortunately, the award for the worst country in the world to drive goes to the Philippines.
